JADE Health participates in the “Dementia Research Dialogues” organized by WHO

On July 30, 2025, the JADE Health project had the honor of participating in one of the sessions of Dementia Research Dialogues: Where Blueprint Meets Practice, an initiative launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) to support the implementation of the WHO Blueprint for Dementia Research. This global framework aims to accelerate dementia research, improve care, and promote prevention through collaboration, innovation, and joint action.

The session, which brought together around 40 participants, was moderated by Laura García Díaz, WHO consultant, and presented by Katrin Seeher, mental health specialist at WHO. Katrin outlined the general objectives of the Blueprint, emphasizing its role as a strategic guide to align global efforts around dementia. She noted that several of the JADE Health project’s work packages are well aligned with the Blueprint’s six thematic areas.

Next, Bernardino Morillo, coordinator of the JADE Health project, gave a detailed presentation of the project’s general and specific objectives, funding structure, consortium composition, and the various work packages involved. He concluded his presentation by encouraging individuals and organizations to join the project as stakeholders and contribute to its development and impact.

The final part of the session was dedicated to questions and an open discussion, addressing key topics such as international collaboration. It was emphasized that Joint Actions—like JADE Health—are designed to foster cooperation among European Union Member States, strengthen public health, respond to cross-border health threats, and share knowledge. A key goal of these initiatives is also to support the transfer and implementation of good practices in critical health areas.

From FundeSalud, we will continue to collaborate with the World Health Organization, keeping them informed of our progress as coordinators of JADE Health, to contribute to the development of this initiative, which will serve as a guide for policymakers, funders, and the research community in future dementia-related actions, and which seeks to make dementia research more efficient, equitable, and impactful.
